There is no official Wan 3 or Wan 3.0 release date to report as of August 2, 2026. Alibaba Cloud’s public release list identifies current Wan 2.x entries, including Wan 2.7 reference-to-video, but does not contain a Wan 3 announcement. A date on a reseller, generator, or SEO blog is not confirmation from the model publisher.
How to track the latest Wan update
Watch three primary channels: Alibaba Cloud’s model-update page for service availability, the Wan-AI GitHub organization for code and release artifacts, and the Wan-AI Hugging Face page for published weights. When an update appears, verify its exact model identifier, release notes, license, modalities, regions, and any API availability before changing production plans.
What “latest” should mean
Pain point: a vague “May update” can be mistaken for a new model release. Our added value: use a verification checklist instead of repeating a timeline. A changelog entry, model card, or official documentation page should answer: what changed, who can access it, and what limitations still apply. If it cannot, describe it as a rumor or preview—not a release.
You do not need to wait for an unannounced name to practice the workflow. Try the currently exposed Wan-family generator with a small prompt test and save the prompt, settings, and date alongside the output. That makes later model comparisons meaningful.
